Welcome to the 2026 Bristol Student Guide

So, you’ve only gone and ended up in Bristol. Proper job!

Whether you’re fresh off the train with three massive bags and absolutely no clue where you’re going, or you’ve already discovered the joys of trekking up Park Street with a hangover, this guide is here to help you get to know your new home.

Bristol’s a bit of a beaut, mind. You’ve got colourful houses, cracking music venues, banging food, loads of green spaces and enough pubs, cafés and questionable late-night takeaways to keep you busy well beyond your degree. One minute you’re chilling harbourside with your mates, the next you’re legging it up one of Bristol’s approximately nine million hills because you’re late for a lecture. And yes, you’ll probably hear a fair few “cheers, drive! on the bus. You might even find yourself saying it before long.

This guide has got the important bits covered: where to eat when the student loan lands, where to go when it definitely hasn’t, the best places for a night out, where to grab a decent coffee, and what to actually do with yourself when you’ve got a rare afternoon free. So get yourself settled, chuck on something waterproof – trust us on that one – and get out there. Bristol’s weird, colourful, creative and properly lovely. Welcome to Brizzle, babber. You’re gonna have a gert lush time.
