Description
Tucked away at the top of Whiteladies Road, close to Blackboy Hill and the Downs, Port of Call is a charming 400-year-old ale house that's full of character and warmth.
Inside, two roaring real fires create the perfect cosy retreat, while the suntrap beer garden at the back is ideal for relaxing with a pint when the weather's on your side.
Expect up to six rotating real ales on the bar, often including a dark ale, alongside excellent home-cooked food, chef's specials and regular food events. Sundays are a highlight, with traditional roasts and a popular quiz night bringing the pub to life.
It's the kind of place where friendly staff, a welcoming atmosphere and great food remind you exactly what a proper pub should be – a place to switch off, settle in and feel at home.
Pull up a chair, enjoy a pint, and make yourself welcome. Just be aware there's a steep street leading up to the pub – but it's well worth the climb.
