South Gloucestershire and Stroud College is one of the largest Further Education providers in the South West offering educational opportunities across Bristol and Gloucestershire.
SGS has seven main campuses – Filton, WISE, Queens Road, Horizon, Clifton, Stroud and Berkeley – as well as many community venues, and welcome 15,500 full-time and part-time learners, of all ages, every year.

SGS WISE
SGS WISE (the West of England Institute of Specialist Education) was opened in 2005 as a brand new, state-of-the-art vocational centre for sport and the arts. SGS WISE delivers outstanding teaching, training and learner services for students, along with outstanding sports, media and arts facilities that are unrivalled in the South West. The campus is home to SGS Sport, the Bristol Institute of Performing Arts (BIPA), Bristol Institute of Media and Bristol School of Art. It is also home to the University Centre and the newly opened Brunel Centre which boasts the new Esports provision.
SGS Filton
SGS Filton is situated close to the centre of Bristol, and it is part of one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing colleges in the region. The campus has excellent facilities, with state-of-the-art IT facilities, the Envy Hair and Beauty Salon, the Bristol Construction Academy and a designated Sixth Form Centre. Students study everything from GCSEs and apprenticeships, to animal management and professional education.
SGS Horizon
Located within a mile of the SGS Filton Campus and dedicated to the delivery of construction-based training, SGS Horizon is a direct response to the needs of the construction sector in Bristol and South Gloucestershire, including the growing demand for workers to fill skills shortages, the buoyant housing market and the interest in renewable energies and sustainable development. SGS Horizon will provide learners and employers with the flexible apprenticeship delivery they need to develop their organisations.
SGS Horizon features purpose-built workshops, an IT suite and a Learning Area Zone, maximising the College’s ability to provide a streamlined approach to skills and knowledge development. SGS Horizon is in an ideal location to ensure that apprentices will benefit from the open plan delivery space and the dedicated focus on their sector whilst having access to the wider college’s learning resource centre and student support functions at our Filton Campus.
SGS Queens Road
Bristol School of Art at Queens Road is situated in the right-hand wing of the Royal West of England Academy. The building, completed in 1858, offers an impressive façade to the Victoria Rooms on Queens Road, Clifton. A school of art has existed here continuously since this time, offering art education in a range of disciplines. Bristol School of Art, Queens Road offers part-time, community, foundation and degree art courses.
SGS Clifton
SGS Clifton is based at Bristol Zoo Gardens in Clifton and it is home to the University School of Animal Management and Conservation. Bristol Zoological Society was founded in 1835 for educational and scientific purposes. It has run Bristol Zoo Gardens since 1836, and the Wild Place Project since 2013. Bristol Zoo Gardens was the fifth oldest zoo in the world. SGS Clifton is located within the Education and Conservation Centre at Bristol Zoo Gardens.
Bristol Zoo Gardens formally closed to the public on the 3rd September 2022. SGS degree students will continue to be taught at the existing zoo and will transition to the new Bristol Zoo when it opens in 2024. The new Bristol Zoo will be located at the 'Wild Place' Project site.
SGS Berkeley Green
SGS Berkeley Green is a new £15 million campus at the former Berkeley Laboratories. The site has been at the cutting edge of science and technology for over 40 years, mainly in support of the commercialisation of nuclear power. SGS Berkeley Green is based within the SGS Group's Gloucestershire Science and Technology Park.
SGS Stroud
SGS Stroud is situated in the beautiful Five Valleys. The campus is based in a modern, state-of the-art building that combines purpose-built facilities with the latest education technology and computers in every classroom, offering interactive learning for all students. The College has an exciting range of sports opportunities, extra classes, trips, events and enrichment activities.
