Aquatic Plants

Here at the Aquatic store pride ourselves in providing the highest quality potted aquatic plants, imported weekly from Holland and Denmark .We carry a wide range of species including some harder to find bulb plants (Aponegeton and Nymphea species). We also cater for the dedicated aquascapers providing a large range of carpeting plants, midground and background species.

Aquarium plants serve as an indicator of water quality, provide the essential basis for healthy fish and are the key to effectively functioning aquatic environments.

We can help you through the process of setting up a stunning planted aquarium. We have all the tools available to help create the aquascape you've always dreamed of. We can talk through the initial planting process, CO2, fertilisers, substrates and all about the plants and how the will grow and adapt into your aquarium.

All are tanks have their own filters which means no cross contamination or pathogens are crossed. Almost all fish are sourced from the best breeders across europe to provide excellent fish at reasonable prices.

Temperate fish

The usual 'first fish' for a new fish-keeper is the goldfish. Unfortunately this is often the 'first mistake' as well. Goldfish, contrary to mainstream belief are not at all suited to small aquaria - they grow too large (35cm 14"), they are boisterous, messy feeders and will eat plants. How about the fancy varieties? Well, these deformed fish come with a whole host of problems and most end up floating/sinking with swim-bladder difficulties or damaging themselves by getting stuck/scraped/torn on benign aquarium objects.

All is not lost however; the conditions in suitable unheated aquaria are perfect for a whole host of fish that are easily to keep. These temperate fish come from areas in nature that are either sub-tropical or experience fluctuating temperatures throughout the year such as high altitude streams or waterways fed by meltwater. The fluctuating conditions in these areas have caused the fish to develop a tolerant and hardy nature, making them ideal fish for smaller aquaria or for new fish-keepers.

Aquarium Water Testing is an essential part of keeping any aquarium from the small starter aquariums to the largest aquaruim

Testing and understanding the aquarium water quality is essential to keep the water with in the correct parameters and good conditions. It is imperative to test regularly for all major tests such as pH, Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate.

We stock a wide range of accurate aquarium water testing kits such as the AQUARIUM LAB from NT Labs, to drip strips for a quick an easy check from esha, JBL and Tetra

Here at the Aquatic store Bristol we cater for most outdoor ponds from fountain pumps/uv systems, treatments and foods to fish
