Where to stay in the Cotswolds: A nature escape at WWT Slimbridge
For those craving a deeper connection with the wild, Warblers’ Meadow is our brand-new glamping site in Gloucestershire.
Hidden away in a tranquil corner of WWT Slimbridge, Warblers’ Meadow is designed for those who want to escape the noise and bustle of everyday life and reconnect with nature. Our five shepherd’s huts are nestled amongst wildflowers, reeds, and shimmering ponds, creating a secluded retreat where you can slow down, breathe deep, and let the natural world set the pace.
Each hut is named after a species of warbler that thrives in this very meadow. In spring and summer, their melodic songs fill the air, while dragonflies dance over the water. If you're lucky, you might wake up to the call of a cuckoo outside your door or experience the gentle rat-a-tat-tat of the woodpeckers as you prepare your breakfast. The meadow is alive with wildlife: foxes, rabbits, and deer move quietly through the undergrowth, and as night falls, bats flit overhead while a barn owl’s soft hoot echoes in the distance.
With five well-appointed shepherd’s huts, this is your chance to unplug, unwind, and wake up to birdsong every morning. Experience the simple joys of outdoor living without sacrificing comfort: each hut has a private bathroom, a kitchenette, and cosy bedding. With no screens to distract you, it’s just you, the wetlands, and the wonder of nature. Bliss.
Warblers’ Meadow offers a comfortable and affordable way to stay close to nature with a rural retreat in the heart of Gloucestershire. Prices vary depending on the size of the hut and the time of year.
All of our prices include free, unlimited access to Slimbridge Wetland Centre during opening hours. Note that the canoe safari and wildlife safari incur a small fee.
