Weston Museum’s free admission means that the museum is truly for everyone and is quickly becoming a popular destination among tourists as one of Weston’s top attractions.

Collections and Exhibitions
Weston Museum tells the unique story of Weston-super-Mare using objects from the North Somerset Collection and spans pre-history to Weston as we know and love it today. The collection itself is owned by North Somerset Council and is managed and curated by the South West Heritage Trust.
A Living Landscape
Learn about a different world where prehistoric creatures roamed and even swam in the warm seas that covered the land millions of years ago. See the tools and treasures that were left behind by ancient inhabitants, beginning with the Stone Age and see how life changed all the way up to the Medieval era.
Beside the Sea
Discover the thriving seaside resort from the Victorian era, with its trades and retail, right up to the present day. Experience some nostalgia with snapshots and souvenirs from the resort’s heyday.
Tides of Change
See Weston’s development from small fishing village to a town prized for its health giving air and bathing. View beautiful sculptures, artwork, including landscapes and portraits by well known artists.
William Mable Gallery
The William Mable Gallery (named after the museum’s founder) houses temporary exhibitions curated by the South West Heritage Trust.
Community Gallery
Funded by a NLHF Sharing Heritage grant, the Community Gallery features stories, objects and photographs from local non profit community groups.
Seascape Area
The Seascape area contains the boat which belonged to Alf ‘Juicy’ Payne, a local fisherman, as well as changing photographs and seaside sounds of Weston-super-Mare throughout the years.
Clara’s Cottage
Step back in time as you enter Clara’s Cottage. A traditional late Victorian home showcasing the history of Clara Payne, whose family lived there for many decades.
Café Artwork
Work by local artists changing every eight weeks. If you would like to display your work, please contact the museum to add your name to the waiting list.
Schools & Learning
Bring learning to life with Weston Museum’s hands-on learning resources and sessions. The museum has a wide range to offer schools, home educators, and community groups with learning about local history.
Learning Sessions
Weston Museum prides itself on being a space for learning. We have experienced children’s educators and a host of learning tools.
Handling Boxes
Handling Boxes contain a mixture of original objects, replicas, activities, books, sounds, images, information sheets and even dressing up items.
Twilight at the Museum
Bring your Scouting or Guiding group Weston Museum for an exciting and exclusive visit at twilight and take part in fun, historical learning activities.
Rusty’s Young Archaeologist Club
Are you a young explorer who loves history and archaeology? Join our Young Archaeologist Club, which we call ‘Rusty Club’ after our mascot ‘Rusty the Iron Age Dog’.

Clara’s Café
Clara’s Café offers a good range of delicious food & drink. From our homemade cakes and loose leaf tea to our varied light lunch options, you’ll be sure to find something you love! Opening times for the cafe are Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 – 15:00.
Gift Shop
Our gift shop is home to a variety of local suppliers, who each create something unique and handcrafted. We love to support local crafters, authors and producers, as it helps support Weston’s local economy.
